RT Journal Article T1 Comparative study of predictive-fixed switching techniques for a cascaded H-bridge two level STATCOM A1 Renault, Alfredo A1 Ayala Silva, Magno Elías A1 Comparatore Franco, Leonardo David A1 Pacher Vega, Julio César A1 Gregor Recalde, Raúl Igmar A2 Universidad Nacional de Asunción - Facultad de Ingeniería AB Finite state model predictive control methods are distinguished by a variable switching frequency which causes large current ripples at low sampling frequency. This paper presents a comparative study of two enhanced predictive current control techniques with fixed switching frequency applied to the three-wire cascaded H-bridge two level converter for active power filter applications. Simulation results are developed to demonstrate the performance of the two proposed predictive control techniques in terms of mean square error, root mean square and total harmonic distortion as figures of merit, thus concluding the advantages and limitations of each technique at transient and steady states.
